As you play and accumulate P$, you can exchange them for prizes. Once a prize has been redeemed, your P$ balance will be reduced but can still grow through continued play. Prize exchanges are only limited by your P$ balance; there is no limit to the number of qualified exchanges.
Great question!
Unlike traditional fantasy sites, ProphetShares does not use a scoring system that converts stats to fantasy points. Our scoring system is simple and is based on the famous investing strategy, "buy low, sell high".
When you correctly predict an Outcome for an Event, you will receive P$ 100 for each share of that Outcome you held when the Event closed. Incorrect Outcomes settle at P$ 0 per share. If you own 1,000 shares of the correct outcome in an Event, P$100,000 (1000 * 100) will be added to your Contest balance. If the average price you paid was $45 / share, your gain would be P$55,000 ((100 - 45) * 1000). For shares you own of an incorrect outcome, no adjustment would be made to your Contest balance as the cost of those shares was already deducted from your contest balance.
Contest winners (those who receive payouts) are determined by the ranked order of their ending Contest balance. At the end of the Contest, the player with the highest Contest balance (most P$) will be awarded 1st place; the player will the the second highest Contest balance will be awarded 2nd place; etc. See the Contest details for payout information as payouts may vary from one Contest to another.
ProphetShares selects a credible source for verification of each Market's eventual outcome. Additional information, including info on this source will be provided in the details of each Market.
We typically set Events to close before the end of an event because we want trading to be focused on predicting the outcome, not reporting on it.
Absolutely! After buying shares of an Outcome, you are able to sell a portion or even all of those shares while the Market is open. You can also hedge your prediction by buying shares of an alternative Outcome in the same Market.
Shorting an Outcome (borrowing to sell shares you don't own) is not allowed. If you disagree with a particularly Outcome, you can take action by buying shares of an alternative Outcome.
No. You may enter as many Contests as you’d like, but are limited to one entry for each Contest.
Contests are resolved once all Events in that Contest have been resolved. This process takes only a few seconds to complete and once the Contest has been resolved, all winner accounts will be updated automatically.
A P$ (Prophet dollar) is our virtual currency (play money) at ProphetShares. Each new account receives an initial deposit of P$. This main account is used to make predictions by buying and selling shares of the Outcomes you believe will be correct. P$ are also awarded as prizes to those players who perform well in a Contest. P$ have no actual cash value but, at certain intervals, can be exchanged for prizes.
A C$ (Contest dollar) is very similar to a P$ but is used exclusively in Contests. Upon entry into a Contest, your Contest balance will be credited C$ which you will use to buy and sell shares of the Outcomes you believe will be correct. C$ are also used to determine the contest winners. The player who finishes the Contest with the most C$ will win 1st place in the contest, the player with the second highest most C$ gets 2nd place, etc. C$ are only good for the Contest in which they are granted - they do no carry over to other Contests and they are not accessible after the Contest ends. C$ have no actual cash value.
Before challenging a final Outcome of a Market, please refer to the Market's detail information provided. .This detail will include that source that ProphetShares uses to determine the correct outcome. For example, in a hypothetical Market of "How many sacks will Chris Jones record against Las Vegas?", we have listed "NFL.com" as our official source. If NFL.com shows that Chris Jones had 3 sacks, we will use "3" as the official outcome, regardless what other sites may report.
That said, we know that mistakes can happen. In the event you discover that our final ruling conflicts with our official source, please let us know via our Contact Us page.

ProphetShares does not have a native app available for download from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. However, when added to your phone's Home Screen, our platform is a user friendly web app.
Purchase limits are in place to promote the trading of multiple Events when participating in a Contest.
