The following rules apply to ProphetShare’s 2025 Bracket Battle Contest ("Bracket Battle" or "Contest"). The same rules apply to both the Men's ("Men's Contest") and Women's Contest ("Women's Contest") except where noted below.
Entry Deadlines
· Players will be allowed to enter the Men's Contest until Saturday, March 29, 2025 12:00pm CDT.
· Players will be allowed to enter the Women's Contest until Sunday, March 30, 2025 12:00pm CDT.
How Bracket Battle Works
· Bracket Battle is free to play. There is no purchase required and ProphetShares does not accept any form of payment in order to enter and play in the Contest.
· Players must have a ProphetShares account in order to participate in the Contest. Accounts are free to create and use.
· Players are allowed a maximum of one entry in each of the Men's Contest and Women's Contest.
· Players must make a prediction in at least five different markets in each of the Men's Contest and Women's Contest to have a valid entry in the respective contest.
· Upon entry into a contest, each player will be given 100,000 contest dollars (C$) for use in that contest. If a player's contest balance reaches C$ 0, no additional contest dollars will be granted and they will not be able to make predictions. At the conclusion of the contest, the contest balance for all players will be used to rank the players. C$ are only valid for each respective contest and cannot be exchanged for anything of value.
· Bracket Battle is comprised of markets and outcomes. Markets are often presented in the form of a question. Example: "Who will win the National Championship?". Outcomes are potential answers to the market's question. Examples: "Connecticut", "Duke", "Other". In each market, one outcome will ultimately be correct and the other outcome(s) will be incorrect.
· The price for each outcome ranges between C$ 0 and C$ 100. As each share of an outcome is purchased, the price of that outcome increases and the price of the other outcome(s) in that market decreases. An outcome's price is typically connected with the perceived chance of it becoming true. For example, a price of C$ 60 represents a belief that the outcome has a 60% chance of being correct.
· To make a prediction, players first find a market they want to predict. Example: "Who will win the National Championship?" Next, players select the outcome they think will come true and use their C$ to buy shares of that outcome. For example, if a player believes Connecticut will win the National Championship, they will buy shares of "Connecticut".
· Players are not locked into their initial purchases. As long as the market remains open for trading, players can sell shares of outcomes they currently own. Players can also purchase more shares of the same outcome as well as purchase shares of a different outcome in the same market.
· When tournament games end, ProphetShares will resolve the respective markets. Shares of correct outcomes will settle at C$ 100 per share and shares of incorrect outcomes will settle at C$ 0 per share. When a market is resolved, any proceeds will immediately be credited to each player's contest balance and can be used, if desired, to make future predictions in the contest.
· As the tournaments moves on, ProphetShares will add new markets to the contests.
· When the tournament ends, ProphetShares will resolve the contest and players will be ranked to determine the final standings. The player with the highest contest balance will take 1st place, second highest will take 2nd place, and so on.
ProphetShares reserves the right to modify these rules at any time during the Contest.
